It is a two year visa given to non-EU citizens who choose to make large investments in Italy. Doing so will grant them the right to stay in Italy as long term residents and eventually, if they choose, as citizens. How much is required to invest?
Unlike, Ireland and Portugal, Italy does not have an option of a larger real estate investment. However, there are some other attractive options – you can make an investment of €250,000 into a startup business and be eligible for the Visa .You are also not required to make the investment until your Visa is approved, this limits risk of losing your investment if your Visa is denied.

You are eligible for an Italian Investor Visa if you are a non-EU citizen, and make a single investment into one of the following:
- €2,000,000 investment into a Government Bond issued by the Italian Republic.
- A loan of €1,000,000 company incorporated and operating in Italy.
- €250,000 – €500,000 invested into an innovative startup; or
- You can make a philanthropic donation of €1,000,000 and support public interest in the fields of culture, education, immigration management, scientific research, preservation of cultural and natural heritage.

Eligibility Criteria:
You must be at least 18 years old at the time they start the application procedure
You must have clean criminal records and be in a good state of health which must be documented
You must invest at least half a million euros in a start-up company which activates in an innovative field or;
Will invest at least one million euros in an Italian company which meets certain criteria imposed by the government or;
Will invest at least one million euros in a project which has a positive effect on the Italian economy or;
Will invest at least 2 million euros by purchasing bonds approved and issued by the Italian government.

- Submit the required documents
- Download the Final Declaration and sign it electronically before submitting it.
- The Investor Visa Committee Secretariat will check your documents. If they are all in order, you will get a green light and the Golden Investor Visa Committee will then evaluate your application
- The Golden Investor Visa Committee will assess your application.
- You will receive a decision within 30 days.
Once the Italian Golden Investor Visa Committee reaches a decision, you have six months to apply for a visa at the nearest Italian Embassy or Consulate.
- You need the Nulla Osta as well as hard copies of all the documents you have submitted. You may be required to submit additional documents as well.
- Once the Italian Embassy/Consulate grants you the visa, you have two years to use it to enter Italy.
The Italian Investor Visa is valid for two years. During this time, you can use the visa to enter Italy and get a Residence Permit.
The Residence Permit for an Investor Visa is also valid for 2 years, starting from the date of entry. You can apply to renew it for another three years by applying at least 60 days before it expires.

From the date of application submission, the processing time is between 90-120 days. The investment must be then made three months before entering the country.
